Summer Camp is worth the investment in your child's growth and the simple enjoyment of childhood. Statistically, the average cost of a week of overnight camp in Virginia is $800-$1000. Camp Piankatank is well below this average because of our ministry partners and mission. We offer tiered pricing for overnight camp. Tiered pricing is unique and a no questions asked discount on camp. Below are several other options that may help you find a way to make camp more affordable.

Monthly Payment Plans

Register early to enjoy monthly payments at no additional cost. Remember, all payments must be completed by May 1, so early registration is crucial to benefit from this option.

Gift Ideas

Children are fortunate to have many loved ones who enjoy giving gifts. Parents can suggest an experiential-gift by contributing to the camper's tuition or reviewing the packing list to suggest necessary items. Many parents feel that their children "don't need any more toys", and this can be a fun suggestion.

Angel Tree

MCCYN

Angel Tree Camping is a ministry of Prison Fellowship. Read below for full details. Eligible children have received Angel Tree Christmas gifts from Prison Fellowship Ministries.

Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN)- Camp Piankatank is a partner with MCCYN. MCCYN makes all eligibility and aid permissions. Applicants can apply on their website. This is for active duty military.

Camp Piankatank Scholarships

A limited number of need-based scholarships may be available through gifts from donors. Piankatank scholarships are partial assistance, no full tuitions are given. Email Cal Hedeen at cal.hedeen@camppiankatank.org for an application.

What is Angel Tree Camping?

Camp Piankatank is a registered camp with Angel Tree Camping, operated by Prison Fellowship. Angel Tree sponsors campers to attend camp at no cost. Angel Tree camping is a chance for children of incarcerated parents to get away from their daily challenges and have fun in the great outdoors, making new friends and meeting caring adult counselors. Camp Piankatank (like all Angel Tree camps) is a Christian program sharing the Bible and the Gospel with our campers.

Angel Tree campers must be registered with the Angel Tree program and submit their registration in a specific way.

Angel Tree will cover the basic cost of camp. They do not cover optional extras like shirts, care packages, or camp store money. Angel Tree will only sponsor one camp session per summer at one camp. Day camp or overnight camp is permitted.

Steps to register:

Check out our camp offerings on the website and select your session of camp.
Begin an online registration and complete all of the steps until the last step (the payment step).
Call or email Cal Hedeen, Associate Director for Summer Camp at 804-776-9552 or cal.hedeen@camppiankatank.org. Tell Cal that you are an Angel Tree camper. Include the camper's name.
Cal will confirm the child is on the Angel Tree list. He will manually "push" through your camper's registration. You will be responsible for any of the optional extra costs like shirts, care packages, or camp store money.
All health forms and waivers must be completed by the legal guardian before camp check-in. These forms are completed online in the registration system.
Parents/Guardians are responsible for transportation to and from camp, and packing the camper adequately for the program (see packing list).
