Educational Programs
Experience a field trip that takes the Virginia Learning Standards for science, history, and physical education for grades 3-8 and delivers them in a fun and exciting setting that can’t be experienced inside a classroom. Teachers choose 4-6 classes for smaller groups to rotate through that reinforce their classroom lessons.
Field Trips
Day trips are available for school groups ranging from 15 to 120 people and are offered September – May, Monday - Friday. We ask for a minimum of 4 ½ hours to provide a quality field trip experience. Based on the group size and time allowances, students are divided into smaller groups and rotate through four or six educational stations with an emphasis on science, social studies, and physical education. The stations are located on our Piankatank River beach/dock, in the marsh, in a classroom setting, and outdoors.

Teachers will work with our staff to select activities that are tailored for their student’s needs, time allowances, and group size. Please see Class Offerings document. We offer 12 different activities for grades 3-8.
Program Pricing:
Bringing your own lunch rate: $18/Student $10/Adults
Piankatank Provided bag lunch $9: $27/Student $19/Adults
You must choose for the whole group if Piankatank will provide lunch, or if everyone will be bringing their own lunches. Fridge access is available.

Chaperones: 1 chaperone per 8 students. Chaperones must actively accompany each activity group.

Overnight lodging and additional meals are possible for groups traveling farther than a 2 hour drive. This is only possible Sunday-Thursday nights. These details and rates are discussed on a case by case basis. Please email Niki for these details.
