Getting Ready for
Overnight  Camp

Packing

  • LABEL EVERYTHING - use a permanent marker or waterproof name stickers

  • Do not pack nice, expensive, or irreplaceable items.

  • Camp Piankatank is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

We have a lost and found area. A table in the middle of the high traffic area of camp. Campers are told to check it. Whether they do or not is their choice. Parents are encouraged to check lost and found at check-out. We donate all unclaimed lost and found at the end of the summer season. We do not mail items to return them, they must be picked up.

What to pack in?

We recommend packing in plastic tubs, like the one pictured. This is optional. We like these because they can hold a lot and clean up easily.

Any luggage or bag is fine.

Red Toothbrush

Hygiene

All your normal daily hygiene items.

Soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, hair cream, lotion... whatever you usually use daily. A carrying caddy or bag to take to the bathroom is helpful.

Daily Pills

Medications

ALL medications are turned in to camp staff. Children that will need medication while at camp, please read your registration confirmation very closely. Daily medications need to be packed by a pharmacy in pill packs or daily bubble packs.

You do not need to send over-the-counter "just in case" medications like Tylenol/Advil. We keep commonly used medications in stock.

Child Model

Clothing and Shoes

Clothes- Comfortable play clothes. Shorts must be appropriate length, no spaghetti strap shirts. Shirts must cover the belly.

Pajamas, socks, underwear.

Shoes- tennis shoes and water shoes.

Water shoes can get wet and do not fall off easily (not flip flops), something with a heel-strap. Tennis shoes are required for several of our activities.

Bathing Suit- one pieces only for girls

Girl Holding BIble

Bible

Bring your favorite Bible. Some kids also like a journal and pen.

If you do not own one, now is a great time to buy one. A Bible can be provided if you do not bring one.
