The True North Program is the rewrite to our Water Adventure Program. The True North Program will immerse you in the outdoors both on land and on water, depending on the track you choose. You will learn how to canoe, set up camp, and even some wilderness survival skills. All of this while learning about Christ or how to grow in your relationship with Christ in the midst of His beautiful creation. After attending this exciting camp, campers will experience growth in their walk with Christ, outdoor skills, responsibility, independence, social skills, and much more.

Weather permitting, both land and water programs feature an overnight camping trip.Shelter

An extra fee of $60 covers the use of camp equipment.

True North – Land (ages 12-15)
The land based weeks of The True North Program will teach campers everything from the basics of setting up camp to some wilderness survival skills. The True North Program is for those campers interested in a great outdoor camping experience.

WA PicTrue North – Water (ages 12-15)
The water based weeks of the True North Program will teach campers about the fun and excitement of being on the water. Campers will learn how to prepare as well as experience an overnight canoeing trip. The week will have some focus on camping but will primarily focus on canoe skills.

Youth Week Hiking Trip (ages 13-17)
New for 2016, we’re introducing a hiking experience for our Youth Week True North program! We’ll depart Monday morning for the beautiful Shenandoah National Park for a 2-night, 3-day hiking experience. No previous hiking experience necessary as this trip is designed for the beginner in minIMG_4522d. If you have hiking gear, you are welcome to bring it but if not, we will provide a hiking pack, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad. There will be a few items you’ll need to bring, but not much more than what you would bring to camp anyway.

Be prepared to see beautiful water falls, gorgeous overlooks and lots of wildlife. Learn how to cook food over a camp stove and how to purify water on the hiking trail. Experience setting our route for the day and growing close to your hiking group. And most importantly, grow in your walk with Christ through morning quiet times and evening sessions at our camp site.

A few important things to understand about the hiking trip:

  1. Campers will be required to carry their own pack and gear along with a few items of group equipment. Pack weight will be approximately 30 pounds or less. However, each day will only involve a few miles of travel with several times to stop and take breaks.
  2. We will be back country camping, which means campers will have to use the restroom in the woods. We will teach you different techniques for comfortably going in the woods.
  3. There will be one male and one female staff member. At least one of the staff members will be a certified Wilderness First Responder.
  4. Due to Shenandoah National Park regulations, we are only able to take 4 male and 4 female participants. Registration is on a first come first serve basis with a $75 non-refundable deposit to guarantee a space. If space is full, you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted if a spot opens up. It is highly recommended that you book early to guarantee your spot.

We hope that you will join us this summer for a life changing hiking experience!
